Trampoline Safety and Benefits-trampolinegeek

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Trampoline Safety and Benefits are becoming increasingly popular across the country, but those taking part in the fun are reminded to keep safety in mind.

Hollie Kinney, of Meriden, knows just how dangerous a trampoline can be. She was on a friend’s trampoline several years ago when she was badly injured.

“I was doing a flip. I landed wrong on my arm and it snapped under the pressure of my body weight,” said Kinney.

Launch Trampoline Park in Hartford is in the business of bouncing around. It’s something they take very seriously and urge everyone to do the same. One of the biggest things you can do is read the rules that are posted throughout any trampoline park. Some of those rules include no landing on your head or neck when jumping, no double flips and it’s recommended you stay off a trampoline if you have health limitations.

“We also have a floor supervisor walking around making sure that all the rules are enforced,” said Danielle Dunn, market manager-community outreach for Launch Trampoline Safety and Benefits. “We also have a really good training program for our employees.”

Parents are also encouraged to keep a watchful eye on their children. “We have a kid court, which is a recommendation for any toddlers to come in,” said Lester Maldonado, assistant manager of Launch in Hartford. “But it’s not a restriction. They are allowed to go anywhere they would like to, but it’s important for them to watch their kids.”

The goal is for everyone who is jumping around to do so, safely. “If I was at a place like a trampoline park or some place where they actually have rules and somebody watching I think it would’ve been a lot safer for me and anybody else involved,” said Kinney.

Aside from safety, there are a number of health benefits to using a trampoline. Some of which includes: improved cardiovascular health and increased leg strength.

Now that school is out for summer, Launch Trampoline park has activities going on in the weeks ahead for families. There will be movie and pizza night on Wednesdays, ice-cream sundae night on Thursdays and teen night on Saturdays. As a reminder, anyone going into the trampoline park has to sign a waiver.
